All Link Fields Explained

Here is every field available when creating or editing a link:

Destination URL *Required

The full URL where visitors will be redirected when they click your short link.

  • Format: Must be a valid URL starting with http:// or https://
  • Example: https://www.example.com/products/summer-sale
  • Tip: You can change this anytime after creating the link

Domain

Choose which domain to use for your short link.

  • Default Domain (ezl.me): The platform's built-in short domain
  • Custom Domains: Any verified custom domains you've added
  • Note: Custom domains must be verified before they appear in this list

Custom Alias PRO

Create a memorable, branded short URL instead of a random code.

  • Instead of: ezl.me/a3x9k
  • Create: ezl.me/summer-sale
  • Length: 3-50 characters
  • Allowed characters: Letters (a-z), numbers (0-9), hyphens (-), underscores (_)
  • Note: Aliases must be unique - you'll see an error if already taken

Title

Give your link a descriptive name to easily identify it in your list.

  • Example: "Summer Sale Campaign" or "Newsletter Signup Form"
  • Tip: Use consistent naming conventions for easier organisation
  • Searchable: Yes - you can search by title in your link list

Description

Add additional notes or context about the link.

  • Use for: Campaign details, target audience, or any internal notes
  • Searchable: Yes - included in search results
  • Visibility: Only visible to you, not to link visitors

Tags PRO

Organise your links with custom tags for filtering and grouping.

  • Create new tags: Type a tag name and press Enter
  • Multiple tags: Add as many tags as needed per link
  • Filter by tag: Click a tag in My EziLinks to show only links with that tag
  • Manage tags: Edit or delete tags from Settings
  • Examples: "marketing", "2024-campaigns", "social-media", "client-abc"

Password Protection PRO

Require visitors to enter a password before accessing your link.

  • How it works: Visitors see a password prompt before redirecting
  • Password requirements: Any password of your choice
  • Perfect for:
    • Private documents or files
    • Exclusive content for subscribers
    • Internal company resources
    • Pre-release product pages
  • Remove password: Clear the field and save to remove protection

Expiration Settings

Control when your link stops working.

  • Expiration Date: Select a date when the link should expire
  • Expiration Time: Set a specific time (optional, defaults to midnight)
  • Free plan: Links auto-expire after 90 days
  • Pro plan: Links never expire unless you set a date
  • After expiration: Visitors see a customisable expiration page
  • Remove expiration: Click "Remove" to make the link permanent (Pro)

UTM Parameters

Add campaign tracking parameters to measure your marketing effectiveness. These are appended to your destination URL.

Parameter Purpose Example
utm_source Traffic source google, facebook, newsletter
utm_medium Marketing medium cpc, email, social, banner
utm_campaign Campaign name summer_sale, product_launch
utm_term Search keywords running+shoes, discount+code
utm_content Content identifier header_link, sidebar_banner

Clear UTM: Click "Clear UTM" to remove all parameters

Targeting Rules PRO

Redirect visitors to different URLs based on their location, device, or browser.

  • Country targeting: Send visitors from different countries to localised pages
  • Device targeting: Different URLs for mobile vs desktop users
  • Browser targeting: Specific URLs for Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.
